Timely Resources for February 28

Dear Neighbors,

We hope you are doing well and staying safe. We wanted to send you a quick message about two helpful resources; tenant’s rights resource fairs and the LA County Household Relief Grants.

Tomorrow, Saturday March 1, there are two different events offering resources to tenants, and members of the Altadena Tenants Union steering committee will be at both! If you are looking for help, community, and connection, please stop by!

Stay Housed LA’s Tenant’s Rights Disaster Clinic runs from 10 AM—3 PM and will feature a tenants’ rights workshop, Q&As with attorneys, and resources from organizations including PTU, the Pasadena Day Labor Center, and the Child Care Alliance of LA. The fair takes place at Friendship Pasadena Church, 80 W Dayton St.

Civic Soul is hosting their Rebuild with Resilience Resource Fair from 9 AM—5 PM, featuring panels on insurance, rental assistance, and more, as well as booths hosted by FEMA, Habitat for Humanity, PTU, and more. This fair takes place at St. Philip the Apostle School, 151 S Hill Ave.

We recommend stopping by both events if you have capacity! Both events have stated they will have food and childcare available.

Additionally, the LA County Household Relief Grants are now open for applications until March 12th at 5 PM. You can access the grant application and learn more about it here. Each household may only apply once, and only one grant will be awarded per address. You will need to upload documents as well as undergo a certification step, including a scan of your face from a device with a front-facing camera. Required documents include: proof of residency in the form of tax returns and/or utility bills, vehicle registration, or lease; proof of identity in the form of valid drivers license, passport, visa, municipal ID, or other forms.

The County has provided an application guide which can be reviewed here. It is currently only available in English, but the website states it is currently being translated. They also say it is only able to be completed online, but in-person help will be made available. No additional information about in-person application assistance has been posted at this time.

In Solidarity,

Your Altadena Tenants Union
