ATU Meeting: Tenant Remediation and the Edison Settlement Offer (11/13/25 at 6:30pm)
We will be discussing the recently-passed Senate Bill 610 and the recent LA County Department of Public Health notice about required remediation for tenants as well as offering information on Edison's recently-released settlement offer and what it means for tenants.
Dear Neighbors,
We hope you’re hanging in there! We will be having an upcoming general ATU meeting on Thursday, November 13th at 6:30pm to discuss two recent developments that have big implications for Altadena tenants.
First, we’ll discuss the current notice from LA County’s Department of Public Health, as well as the recent passage of SB610 at the state level. Together, the DPH notice and SB610 require landlords to properly test & remediate rental units, and provide documentation to tenants. That’s the good news. The bad news is that no action will be taken automatically: both the notice and SB610 require tenants to take steps to demand their landlords comply with existing law. Also, some of the existing protections are time-sensitive and expire on December 31, so it’s critical to inform as many neighbors as possible in standing structures so they can act now. (We’ve also added a new section to our website with all our tools and resources: please check it out and share!)
Second, we’ll be discussing the recently-released settlement offer from Edison and what that offer looks like for Altadena tenants. We’ll be joined by Andrew King from Department of Angels who’s created a comparison calculator to help you understand what you might expect from Edison’s plan versus litigation, and he’ll walk us through how to use it. This is a complicated situation, and there are many important things to understand, so we’re working to get as much accurate information as we can. Please come and bring your questions; if we don’t know the answers we can find them out.
Please register now to join us - Thursday, 11/13/25, from 6:30-8:00pm online. All Altadena tenants and allies are welcome. Cops, landlords, ICE, and journalists working in their professional capacity are not.
You are not alone and ATU is here to help you however we can. It will take all of us working together to demand a safe and equitable recovery for ALL of Altadena, so we hope to see you there!
